A little throwback

Before I went there, I barely knew about Taiwan. As long as I can remember, my first memory with the country was because I am a fan of F4 and Meteor Garden series when I was on elementary school back then. I once really wanted to go there just to meet Jerry Yan, the member of F4 who used to be my childhood crush haha. In 2018, I found an indie band called Sunset Rollercoaster who come from Taiwan. I enjoy their music, My Jinji, Burgundy Red, and so on are my fave songs of them.

Even smallest dream did come true. I got opportunity to go to Taiwan and stay at Taipei in the middle of 2018. Disney invited my media to cover Press Junket event of Ant-Man 2. Visit Taiwan no longer my dream when I got that opportunity, but as my plane arrived at Taoyuan airport, I knew I would love the country.

The city, I mean Taipei, is very clean. They have large pavement so we can walking on foot comfortably. We can move in the city with public transportation comfortably to. They have proper public transportation, from city bus to MRT.

Beside working, I also went to some places. I went to touristy attractions such as Taipei 101. Taipei 101 is the highest skyscraper in Taipei. On the top of it, there is an observatory where you can see Taipei from the top. The view is breathtaking, of course.

I also went to Jiufen. It located near Taipei. I took two-hour trip by bus to get there. There is a famous traditional market there. Some people said, the setting of Ghibli's Spirited Away is inspired by that market. In Jiufen, there is also a popular tea house called A-MEI. I loveeeee Jiufen very much. There are a lot of stores which sell Ghibli's merchandise there.

The other thing that can make you in love with Taiwan is food. The street food there looks tempting. I visited Taiwan on Ramadhan. It was very difficult to find halal food which free from pork and lard, but trust me, when you find it, it tastes so good! There are a lot of night markets that sell a lot of tempting Taiwanese street food such as crispy chicken or milk tea with boba on it. Of course, Shihlin Night Market is the most well-known.

I also love the atmosphere there. I think it will be nice to walk around, listen to 80s city pop tunes from your headseat while sightseeing the city. Taipei has the beat that the city need, but it doesn't make too much hustle bustle. The city both dynamic and slow, both busy and quite. It is far from crowded and you can see anything feels so neat in the city.

It was nice to visit Taiwan and I'd love to go there again someday.
